Mum tells inquest that Amy, 23, begged for help before killing herself

TW for suicide including method

'Vicky Crowther, manager with Kerrier Community Mental Health Team, said the team were shocked by her death as they did not consider the overdoses on September 2, 4 and 6 were actual suicide attempts.

She said Amy was probably suffering from a borderline personality disorder which can cause constant overdosing.

Michelle asked how long it would take to diagnose someone with such a disorder. She was told it depended on the individual

She said: “Is a year not long enough? You were seeing her for nearly a year … you did not get there in time.”

Michelle asked if a lack of diagnosis would have impacted on her treatment.

Ms Crowther said it would not. She would have received the same treatment as she had via the community mental health team.

The inquest heard that Amy couldn’t be sectioned under the Mental Health Act as she had full capacity and wanted to continue working with the mental health team.

Michelle said: “She was begging for help and was carrying on saying ‘I need help’ and not getting it.”

Mr Taylor stressed that was not what the psychiatric team recorded as being the case.'
